Israeli Airstrike on Lebanon Kills Four Hezbollah Members

(MENAFN) Four people were killed and three others wounded late Saturday after an Israeli airstrike struck the southern Lebanese village of Kfar Roummane, according to the country’s Public Health Emergency Operations Center.

Lebanese media reported that an Israeli drone launched the attack at approximately 10:20 p.m. local time (2020 GMT), firing a guided missile at a four-wheel-drive vehicle traveling along the Doha-Kfar Roummane road on the village’s eastern outskirts. Ambulance teams immediately responded to the site, media said.

A security source told a news agency that the four people killed were members of Hezbollah but declined to give additional information.

The incident comes despite a U.S.- and French-brokered ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel that took effect on Nov. 27, 2024, aimed at halting months of cross-border violence triggered by the conflict in Gaza.

Although the truce remains formally in place, the Israeli military has continued to carry out limited operations in Lebanon, saying the strikes target Hezbollah “threats.” The army has also maintained troops across five main positions along the Lebanese frontier.
